About

Hi! I am Jaclyn Devlin, MS CCC-SLP, the founder of Breezy Speech Therapy. My career as a Speech Language Pathologist began after earning my Master’s Degree in 2006 at Towson University. Currently, I work full time as a Speech Teacher for the New York City Department of Education, District 75.

I began my career working with the Intellectually Disabled population at Day Habilitations and Group Homes. Following that, I worked as a full time Speech Language Pathologist at Coney Island Hospital, Brooklyn, NY working in the acute rehabilitation department and in- patient services. At Coney Island, I developed my skills working with patients with various language disorders including aphasia and cognitive language disorders, swallowing disorders (dysphagia), and speech disorders such as dysarthria and apraxia of speech. In addition, I gained experience working in the NICU with fragile infants as they learned to eat on their own. After work, I provided home based Early Intervention Services treating children birth through three.

After having my first son, I moved over to the school setting to work with students ages 10-21.  I work with students with various challenges such as Autism Spectrum Disorders, Cognitive Delays, Emotional Disturbances, Sensory impairments and Multiple Disabilities.  Therapy includes Auditory processing (understanding and using the sounds of language), Phonological skills (organizing speech sounds), Comprehension (understanding language), Articulation (forming clear sounds in speech) Augmentative Communication and Social language skills.  I work with students and their families to help ensure they can communicate their wants and needs and be productive members of our community.

I hold a Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and am licensed as a Speech-Language Pathologist by the State of New York.  In addition, I hold a Certificate for Teaching Students with Speech-Language Disabilities (TSSLD).
